Thank You Lord!

Lord,

Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. When that tremendously large hornet landed on my chest today, I think my bones jumped out of my body. But then I said a prayer and I calmed myself back down. Then I noticed the hornet wasn't there anymore. I was like a pact. I thought you would get rid of the hornet if I would spread your good Word on here. I think you're wanting me to continue to spread your Word as I had after the bike ride. Thank you for continuing to answer my prayers and be present in my life, even if it is to wake me up with a hornet on steroids.

Oh Lord,

Oh Lord,

Please allow me to keep you in heart and mind as I go through this week. As you know, I did not make it to church tonight and don't want to go through this week without keeping you as my guiding light. Please allow me to remember you in thought, word and deed so that I may spread your loving Word. Please continue to be there for the St. Paul Youth Group, Tony Kenealy and the Kenealy side of the family so that we may come together and see each other more often. In your name I pray oh Lord,

Amen

Our God is awesome God he reigns!

Please help my family turn to you in their times of need. Please keep showing them your love and compassion and guide their lives for the better. I know its hard for many, including myself to put full trust in you Lord but maybe if we did we wouldn't be worrying about money and day to day obstacles. Please help utilize my life in a way that I show others a Christ-like example. Lord please give me strength and the words to say to start talking to my Grandma again. Please help me be more understanding when things don't go my way and please help me gather more patience. Thank you, and in your name I pray,

Amen

God is Good

Last Tuesday, Jessica and I set out on about a 25 mile bike ride from Chicago Ridge, Illinois to Yorktown Mall in Lombard. MapQuest had the trip marked out at (from what I remember) about 21 miles, but we backtracked a little and I estimate we probably added another four miles at least.

We're a couple of hardcore trekkies, and not the Star Trek kind, but the bike trek kind. We trekked through side street Cook and DuPage suburbia where we passed forest preserve, lakes and ponds, possible million dollar homes, busy intersections and highway. We only stopped briefly in Willow Springs at a brick laid shelter at the corner of Archer and 95th I believe and did manage to run through a sprinkler later on. Other than that, we power housed up hills for miles on end and flew down stretches of sidewalk.

About halfway through the trip, the blue sky started to turn grey. Although it wasn't supposed to rain that night, I began to feel suspicious. Knowing there was no turning back now, I began to pray. I asked God to hold off the rain because we had a long way to go and in return for God's grace, I told God I would write a blog about God's grace. I continuously prayed throughout the journey; however, the sky gradually became darker and the winds picked up. Yet, despite all this, there was no rain. We were getting close to our destination at Sweet Tomatoes in Lombard.

I felt that God would show grace and I believed he would hold the rain off. Still, we had been biking so long and the destination seemed so far away. The last stretch to Lombard included biking over a highway and by this time, the winds rattled, the temperature dropped and rain drops began to fall, but they didn't fall so hard as to get too wet. There was a steep hill I had to peddle up and I was determined to pedal harder than I ever have to get to our destination. Not long after getting over this hill, I spotted Sweet Tomatoes and it was no coincidence that the rain started to pour just as we opened the door to the restaurant. When we finished eating, the rain stopped and I believe God made Jessica's friend Karen available that night to pick us up. I told God I would write this blog the next day, and I do ask for His forgiveness because I am just now getting around to writing it. God always lives up to His promises, but it's harder for us to live up to ours. Being Christian is much harder than biking 25 miles, but it's like biking in that sometimes when you think it's smooth sailing, God throws a storm in your path and says, "How are you going to react?"

Thank you God for your Grace,

Kevin

Strength

Lord,

I pray for strength today. In filling out my job applications, things seem overwhelming at times. And I just pray that you guide me where you want me. Give me the strength to attack each day in your name and keep you in thought, Word and deed. Amen.

Oh Lord,

Oh Lord,

I haven't used the talent you've given me in a while
I haven't written like my third grade self
Point me in your direction oh Lord,
I've been tired, like a disciple too tired to pray, too tired to focus on you
Help me come back to You, to the Write path

Jesus Feeds the 5,000

Jesus gives the Spiritual food
Our souls require
In the fast food biz
He’s our number one supplier
Been thinking on the material world,
All the material boys
and the material girls
recognize golden arches
Before the Cross,
but don’t cross
Me in a McDonald’s line,
Super Size Me and
I’ll be just fine
We are what we take in
And what we take in,
We put out
Do we reach full contentment
from when we wine and dine
at the fast food line?
Or do we reach
Real contentment, Real satisfaction
from the bread and the wine
from the 3 in 1, the Divine?

Second Chance

How big is your world when you are the center of it?
How small is your world when it comes crashing down?
Out of all the places to be, you're in that one building that never closes.
The one place where a parking lot is always occupied.
You enter the halls of white coats, and within them are your perceived notions of answers.
Answers for what exactly?
Cures for what exactly?
The sick, the diseased, the broken.
How naive are we to think someone who is broken lays only in a hospital.
Their in our homes. Their in our schools.
Their the person who walk beside you down the road.
Their in the grocery store, their in the restaurant drive through.
Look around you, you don't need to go to a hospital to find the broken.

But you ask yourself, how are you able heal?
You haven't been trained, you didn't go to school for it.
You hands aren't sanitized with white gloves.
And you have no degree stating your eligibility.

You don't have all the answers, and neither do I.
But I will offer you this one.
You are called to heal from the day Jesus healed you.
You are trained during your devotional time with Jesus.
In your quiet place, you secret time, just you and God.
Your hands are pure by the Holy Spirit who empowers you.
And your eligibility is your birth certificate when you were born into Christ.
You are a child of God, this is your eligibility.

Bringing you back to that small hospital room,
All you want to hear is the sound of that machine beep.
To know the one you love will live.
Then, those beeping lines spike on that machine that declares life and death.
Your heart races as you feel helpless.
You have no control over that heartbeat.
You have no control over that breath you love one is breathing in.

The monitor beeps a flat line across that screen.

One last chance, those white coats warm up that defibrillator and shouts "Clear."
You wait.
Wait to see if your loved one accepts that spark of life.
The spark of life that brings them back from that place that is eternal separation from God.

Taking a different look at this second chance of life..
Think of what a defibrillator appears to be in outline format.
Pressed together, side by side.
The image itself represents an opened book.
This opened book is the Word of God.
As soon as that book is opened, life is breathed out.
All you have to do is choose to breathe it in.
Open your book, and listen.
Listen to God speak to you.
For He can bring back anyone who is on the brink of death.

You breathe out as you listen to that heartbeat once more,
Knowing the one you love choose that second chance.
They chose to breathe in, Life.

Breathe in Faith

Faith overcomes obstacles
Through faith there is forgiveness
Through faith there is action
We are all disabled by sin
Who do you know who needs a friend?
Take up the Cross
Let Jesus Win
As He healed the Paralytic
Let Him Heal You
Don't be confined in frustration
Get mobile, breathe in faith and out
Will come the Word

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Today I lived by this verse, even though there is a lot of death and despair going on in my life I know that you are walking me through this. You will never give up on me, you will take me by the hand and lead me to the path of healing.

Your Creation, Oh Creator!

Your Creation, Oh Creator!
I saw a faint full moon staring at me rising in the west, 7 a.m.
Driving east, that passionate ball of orange throws its color on the world to awake the day
Your Creation, Oh Creator!
The laughter you filled me with today, among good people of your creation
Smiles that spread like daylight
Your Creation, Oh Creator!
Oh Lord! I celebrate in the life created today
How remarkable,
How precious,
How often overlooked
Oh Creator, Thank you for such Creation!

You are my...

Jesus,

You are my sunshine my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey... or blue...or purple...or starry, or clear. You pretty much make me happy all the time. You have been with me through the thick and the thin, the good and the bad days and you never leave my side. Jesus I confide in your love through all my days. BECAUSE of you my heart is joyous, giving and courageous. WITH YOU, I can conquer anything.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13

Thanking Him
     I am blessed.
We should all be astounded by his love and graciousness.
Not one should go by, and be self centered.
Jesus centeredness is the way to be.

New Year's Resolution

"I will never leave you nor forsake you." - Hebrews 13:5

When you start the countdown
Raise your glasses and give a toast to the One
Who means the most
... My resolution?
Is to follow God, Jesus, Holy Spirit
If you think He's not there, turn up your ears
Listen, you'll hear it
Forget the Mayans 2012
Remember God this New Year
When you start the countdown
Let Go
Let God

spreadtheWord's Mission

As Jesus called his disciples to be fishers of men, I am using this blog to not only write about my walk with Jesus but use it as a net to hopefully connect with others as well. So don't be afraid to share your stories about Christ and hopefully our net will only continue to grow. I know I am a stronger person now that I follow Christ and the more I welcome Him into my life, the stronger I feel. I hope this blog helps your growth and I hope we can have a communication about our daily living in Him. Peace be With You and God Go With You,
